Jim Vue

SUPPORTED BY His wife AND CHILDREN

Sai Thao, Ty, Thee, Ghia, Dhoua, & Hlushia

Jim Vue is the father of Ghia Nah Vue, Dhoua Hli Vue, Ty Lee Vue, Thee Kou Vue and Hlushia Vue. He is supported by his wife, Sai Thao. When Ghia drowned, everything changed. But most importantly, Jim knew that the most difficult change would be himself. He learned that water could no longer be known only for its beauty, but also for its dispassion. The next time, Jim understands to not only be prepared, but to ground that readiness in compassion. This is how he moves forward. This is why he joined the Rain Watcher Project.

Magic and Wonder through Water

Water breaks, a child comes rushing out of her mother’s womb. A world awaits, ready to receive life renewed.

As a child, I lived in Tulsa, Ok. I remember riding in the car with my parents alongside Riverside Drive next to the Arkansas River. I was captured by magic through light reflecting off the ripples in the river, and that wonder stayed with me. Now, I live in Saint Paul, Mn, a city with the Mississippi River, mighty is its identity.

To share the magic I first experienced all those years ago, I take my children to the rivers and the lakes. My daughter, Ghia Nah Vue, captured by the light reflecting off the ripples at Lake Elmo, went deep into the water. When she came back to me, she had drowned. On that day, not only had Ghia died, but there was a death inside me as well, the death of magic and wonder through water. Water takes, a child slips away from her sister Dhoua, her brothers Ty and Thee. A world left behind, and all that’s left is the next me.
