BIOGRAPHY

Pang Foua Xiong is a filmmaker that specializes in honoring Hmong elders by using video to record the stories of Hmong elders.

I’m inspired by “Humans of New York” and the simplicity of the stories and however, I also enjoy a variety of film documentary. My dearest inspiration is to document raw stories from refugees and Elder Hmong individuals- to preserve and for family keepsake.

My motivation comes from my parents and their stories of survival and our fortunate fate to be born here in America. I constantly and grateful for that and the resources I have around me.

I believe in preserving history. I strongly believe in creative expression because we all have something unique to share with the world. It’s so powerful to create something that may resonate with someone else and that can change that person’s life and appreciation of life-All through what we create.

I’ve yet to experience this but I believe as an artist, lots of energy and time needs to be given to your work. As a mother to 5 children, I constantly am doing my best to try and balance my life and time.     I believe in the need in having the right resources and passionate-supportive people. It keeps me grounded and would continue to keep me inspired and encouraged.
