My name is Sally Alrawi, born and raised in Iraq, Baghdad. I Came into the U.S.A.

as a refugee in 2010 with my family. I am 23 years of age and the oldest of five. I’m Currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and going after my artistic passions at the same time. Growing up, we have been told and taught to follow the norm, expectations, of what society and our parents have already destined for us, which’s go to school, get to college, get a degree, and live an ordinary soulless life. Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for arts of all kinds and a creative soul. Due to societal expectations and parental pressure, I had no choice but to bury my artistic side and follow the rest of the crowd. It is not until I got older, I started naturally gravitating back towards art and creativity. Which’s why I started modeling, painting, playing piano, writing, doing photography, pottery, and indulging my soul fully and unapologetically with my true passion, which what I knew I was destined for from a young age, creating. Which’s why I identify myself as a multipotentialite, a psychological term referring to the ability and preference of a person, particularly one of strong intellectual or artistic curiosity, to excel in two or more different fields. I don’t know what’s next for me but I do know that I am full of many potentials.

I will work with the history of who I am and what I am capable of to create many different forms of art work.
