In Progress’s purpose is to diversify cultural dialogue and pave the way for new voices in the field of digital art making.   In Progress provides opportunities for artists of all ages to develop their skills as digital storytellers  and leaders through the use of photography, video, and music.  This small non-profit has been promoting the voices of  new and emerging artists since its inception in 1996, breaking down barriers of geography, class, education, and culture in the process.   We use digital art making as a tool for public discourse, while building the skills of new and developing makers so they may create, teach and lead. DIRECTORS & Staff

In Progress is led by artists that have a direct interest in our purpose of promoting the voices of new and emerging artists. It is a unique cooperative of working artists that provide mentorship, community members that lead in the design of programming and seasoned administrators that know how to keep the wheels turning of this small and agile organization. In Progress’s board and staff reflect the cultural, economic and artistic characteristics of the diverse communities it serves. 95% of those listed below identify as non-white, with approximately 90% identifying as low income or poor. 30% live in rural or tribal communities. It should also be noted that there are no employees at In Progress. Every contributor either volunteers their time, or works as an independent contractor. COntributors

In Progress is honored to have the support of individuals, communities, foundations and government agencies.  Without their support we would not be able to do this work.  We can see ourselves making progress in building a firm foundation for the programs we are deeply committed to.  We continue to seek to deepen our relationship with existing funders, while identifying new relationships with those that share in our vision of community, the arts and young voices.  Needless to say - we are very grateful to everyone that supports the work we do. and we thank everyone that has stuck by In Progress and continues to support the important work happening with new and emerging artists. Archives

In Progress deeply values the artwork created by the artists of In Progress. Some of our archives go back 30 years or more. Maintaining these archives are difficult but we continue to strive to make sure that the photographs, music and video works created by In Progress artists stay accessible over time. READ MORE.

curriculum & Instruction

In Progress artists have developed and gathered curriculum resources designed to assist teaching artists in their instruction of those participating in our programs. It represents a strong collection of basic to intermediate level lessons and tutorials in photography, video and music creation. READ MORE.

Evaluation

In Progress is built upon a complex network of artists and communities.  The organization is centered in these relationships and the hopes and dreams we develop together.   We continue to seek out what others have to say about our work, and we would love to hear what you have to say. READ MORE.

Planning Tools & Resources

Our teaching artists work with a high level of independence.  In order to keep continuity within the implementation of programming we work with a common set of tools.  Many of our resources are available for review and are used daily by staff. READ MORE.
