BIOGRAPHY
Angelo Bush is a 19-year-old photographer and visual artist based in Minnesota, known for his thoughtful, place-based imagery and commitment to social storytelling. A Minnesota native, Angelo became connected to In Progress through his high school photography teacher at the High School for Recording Arts (HSRA), who later partnered with the organization.
Angelo’s work blends documentation with personal and cultural narrative. He has contributed over two dozen photographs of his neighborhood to the Saint Paul Almanac, and was featured in the book Rod Bush: Lessons from a Radical Black Scholar on Liberation and Justice, which highlights the legacy of his grandfather in the field of sociology and education. He also contributed both behind and in front of the camera to the student-produced documentary Rond: Beyond the Pavement, which chronicles the destruction of a thriving Black neighborhood in Saint Paul during the construction of I-94.
At In Progress, Angelo is developing his skills in both photography and videography, with a focus on refining his craft and learning how to run a sustainable creative business. His long-term goals include operating his own photography business full-time, publishing art books, and curating gallery shows that feature his work and the work of others in his community.
