BIOGRAPHY

Yohannes Dawit is an Ethiopian-born designer, creative director, and filmmaker based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His practice moves fluidly across brand identity, fashion, and narrative film, constructing visual worlds that explore the psychological weight of identity, survival, and transformation.

Born in Addis Abeba and shaped by an internationally diverse upbringing that included education in Wales and formative time in Iowa and DC, Yohannes arrived in the Twin Cities and found an immediate and unexpected creative home.

Through communities like TDM5, Cinefilmu, Mamapapaya, and Zoma House, he built relationships with artists across Minneapolis and Saint Paul that became the foundation of his current practice. Those connections allowed him to build Cerus, a narrative fashion collection and film three years in the making, now in its final stages of production ahead of a summer 2026 release and public showcase.
