BIOGRAPHY
Terry Faust is a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, filmmaker, and writer based in the Twin Cities. He earned his B.A. in Studio Arts from the University of Minnesota, where he focused on film and photography. His early career included in-house roles as a staff photographer and video producer/director for various Twin Cities businesses, as well as teaching photography and multi-image production. In 1991, he transitioned into freelancing, offering services in photography, slideshow production, and video.
As a writer, Terry explores a range of genres including urban fantasy, young adult fiction, and humorous science fiction. His published work includes the young adult urban fantasy novel Bearer of the Pearls (North Star Press) and the satirical sci-fi novel Z is for Xenophobe. His short stories have been featured in local anthologies, with “Unpleasantness at 20,000 Feet” appearing in Calumet Editions' Boundaries Without. His audio fiction has been featured on Story Hour and Redshift Radio Theater.
In recognition of his work, Terry received the Loft Literary Center’s first prize in young adult fiction for his novel To Build a Blackbird (formerly Elysium Flyer), and a Minnesota State Arts Board grant in 1983 to produce the short film Lunch with Stacie. Though officially retired in 2016, he continues to contribute editorial photography to three community newspapers in the Twin Cities, write fiction, and create whimsical weather vanes for Little Free Libraries.
