BIOGRAPHY

I am SERENE. I was born September 12th 2007 in Robbinsdale Minnesota. From a young age I've been a natural born leader, both very likeable and unlikeable, being that I stand by living in my authentic self,I have a strong personality, very outgoing, and I love to learn. Growing up I was always around arts of all forms, and entrepreneurs. My grandma always tells me that when I was 3 she brought my brother a drum from Africa and when I would drum it would shock her because she had never seen a baby play the drums that well, so says she.

I love to sing anywhere, anytime, all the time, I sang in the church choir and at the boys and girls club when I was younger and took piano for a while, still to this day I would love to get back into that. In school when it was time to read I had to have a book of poems, everything about poetry brings me peace and sparks creativity in my mind instantly. I would say seeing my people freestyle, making beats with pencils on the table or the wall is what first interested me into music.

The first song I wrote was at a sleepover summer of 2022, my friend said we should make a song and so we found a beat and got to writing. Unfortunately it was never finished and lost but after that my little sister told me about mobile jazz at Frogtown rec center and I started going. One day the kids made a beat and it was like I couldn't stop listening so I just sat there and wrote pages to it. When I write it’s like the words are being whispered into my ear and all I can think to do is get my notebook and write it down. The next week I came with a song, found a beat and recorded. I don't have the recorded version but I do have the paper copy lol, I recorded a few more songs after that which I have in my possession, then school started.

My first year in high school, the third week of school I transferred from Central High School to an alternative school called Career Pathways. An artist filled school from the smallest student down to the tallest teacher, being around so many different artists brought me so much comfort, and inspiration. One of my favorite teachers and artists is Miles Mcfarelane because he inspires me and added challenge into the thought of making music while it is still fun and skillful in practice to perfect my craft.

It didn't matter where I was at, any itch I had to write something it was scratched but as much as people would see me write, it was rare for me to actually show my work to anyone and that's how it’s been for the longest. The amount of fingers I have is the maximum number of people who have heard what I have to offer but “If not now, then when?”

I am 17 years old, a junior, soon to graduate class of 2025. Ambitious I am, I know all that I set my mind to and actions behind, will undoubtedly be accomplished.
