Ty Her is a singer, songwriter, and producer whose music is deeply rooted in personal experience, cultural identity, and emotional authenticity. Born in Thailand and raised in a traditional Hmong household, Ty immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of two. He spent his early childhood in Minneapolis before relocating to Oklahoma during his teenage years. Now based once again in the Twin Cities, Ty is actively exploring and refining his identity as a transmasc Hmong artist.

Ty’s love for music began in childhood, often singing to themself and catching the attention of family members who recognized their natural talent. By junior high, songwriting had become a key part of Ty’s self-expression. Their lyrics often reflect themes of transformation, belonging, and resilience, shaped by their journey navigating multiple cultures, languages, and gendered expectations.

A self-driven artist, Ty has written numerous original songs and independently produced and released some of his music. He is committed to honing his craft and building a body of work that resonates with those seeking honesty, vulnerability, and healing through sound. Whether working in intimate acoustic spaces or layered digital productions, Ty uses music to process life’s complexities and offer connection to others.
