jibra’il ibraheem
music artist / writer / producer / poet
Jibra’il Ibraheem, who performs under the name gb., is a multidimensional artist, writer, and producer whose creative journey is rooted in self-discovery, truth, and cultural reverence. Born of love and raised in a richly multicultural household, Jibra’il has developed a sound and identity that are both deeply personal and universally resonant.
The name gb.—short for Gangster Bohemian—reflects his embrace of duality: bold yet reflective, rooted yet experimental. Formerly known as IMAME, Jibra’il continues to evolve as an artist with a clear commitment to expression that uplifts, challenges, and inspires. His music sits at the crossroads of Hip Hop and the broader pan-African diaspora, echoing the rhythms, truths, and complexities of Black identity, liberation, and joy.
Though often described as unconventional or experimental, Jibra’il's sound is intentionally fluid, shaped by a decade of experience as a poet, lyricist, and songwriter. He is self-taught in production and performance, but credits his growth to a combination of mentorship, personal discipline, and a deep respect for community-rooted knowledge sharing.
Jibra’il is also a passionate teaching artist, committed to supporting others in finding and cultivating their own voice. He views his role as not just that of an emcee or producer, but as a conduit for truth-telling, healing, and growth. With compassion at his core and creativity as his compass, Jibra’il embodies a practice of highest-self vibration and authentic representation.
