Isaiah Kai
Filmmaker / Videographer
BIOGRAPHY
Isaiah Kai, who also goes by Zay, is an emerging storyteller and creative from the northwestern part of the Twin Cities metro. His work is rooted in a desire to represent his community through narratives that resonate across generations—stories that feel immediate and relatable to his peers while carrying a level of depth and intention that older audiences can respect.
Zay began creating shortly after graduating high school, initially exploring his voice and approach without a defined structure. At the beginning of this year, he made a deliberate shift toward consistency and growth, committing to developing his craft with greater focus and purpose.
His influences draw heavily from visual and narrative-driven media, including anime, television, and film. He is particularly inspired by actors such as Cillian Murphy, whose performances demonstrate a strong ability to fully inhabit complex characters. This influence is reflected in Zay’s own creative process. He identifies as an empath, with a natural ability to understand and connect with a wide range of lived experiences. This perspective allows him to step into different viewpoints and “take on characters” in his work, whether he is creating original content or collaborating with others.
