BIOGRAPHY
Talia McWright is a journalist, writer, and multidisciplinary artist who weaves storytelling into every facet of her creative practice—whether through the written word, spoken voice, visual imagery, or collaborative exploration. Rooted in her commitment to truth-telling, Talia seeks to uplift underrepresented narratives, particularly those within communities of color and other historically marginalized groups. Her work is guided by a deep belief in the power of storytelling to build bridges, expand empathy, and honor lived experience.
Talia currently reports for the Pioneer Press, where she covers a wide range of stories across Saint Paul and Woodbury. Her journalism reflects a passion for nuanced, community-centered reporting, grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a commitment to accuracy. In addition to her reporting, Talia is an avid creative writer, exploring poetry, prose, and fiction as expressive modes of communication and healing.
A naturally curious and adaptive learner, Talia is expanding her creative toolkit to include photography, videography, and audio production. She has foundational experience behind the camera and is newly engaged in audio editing and sound design—fields she’s excited to explore more deeply through mentorship and experimentation with In Progress.
Talia’s artistic approach is shaped by her love of trying new things, stretching creative boundaries, and growing alongside others in community. She believes that storytelling, in all its forms, is a vital means of understanding ourselves and others. Whether reporting on current events, capturing visual narratives, or crafting poems that reflect her inner world, Talia’s work is infused with care, clarity, and a desire to connect.
