Susanna “Susy” Morales is a visual artist and photographer whose creative work is deeply rooted in her family’s legacy, culture, and joy. She is the proud daughter of Vilma Morales Garcia and Alfonso Monterros Morales, and she considers herself the embodiment of her grandparents' wildest dreams—an artist shaped by her family’s stories, music, traditions, and enduring love.

Susy first joined In Progress to build her technical skills and find new ways to express both personal and intergenerational narratives. What began as a desire to tell her story through photography has since blossomed into a broader artistic practice that bridges visual storytelling with heartfelt reflection. Learning how to operate a DSLR camera and use editing software opened doors for her to experiment, be curious, and create more intentionally.

As an artist, Susy moves fluidly between photography and visual arts, often translating her lived experiences and observations into watercolor paintings and vivid portraits. Whether organizing playful photo shoots with friends or capturing the quiet honesty of a single moment, she uses her creative tools to strengthen connections and invite others to feel seen.
