Sajid Nur is a newly developing videographer, musician, and historian from East Grand Forks, Minnesota. As a Somali American, he is deeply committed to serving his community, using both his creative talents and his time to make a meaningful impact through volunteerism. Currently a high school student, Sajid balances his academic responsibilities with his passion for the arts and community service, demonstrating remarkable dedication and focus at a young age.
Qualifications
As a videographer, Sajid is learning to tell compelling visual stories that highlight the experiences, challenges, and strengths of his community. He is developing technical skills in shooting and editing while cultivating an eye for authentic, human-centered narratives. As a musician, he is exploring his creative voice, using music as a powerful way to share emotion, culture, and ideas that resonate with others.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Sajid is passionate about history—particularly in documenting and preserving the stories of his own community. He believes that understanding the past is essential to building a stronger future and is eager to ensure that the experiences of Somali Americans in Minnesota are recognized and remembered.
Sajid’s commitment to volunteerism reflects his belief in giving back and uplifting those around him. Whether through art, music, or service, he is dedicated to building connections, fostering understanding, and making a positive difference in East Grand Forks and beyond. With curiosity, talent, and a strong sense of purpose, he is poised to grow into an influential voice and leader in his community.
