BIOGRAPHY

Sara Parhizgari is a media artist and philosopher whose creative work is rooted in amplifying voices and perspectives often overlooked by the mainstream. Her films and photographs reflect a commitment to storytelling as a means of cultural preservation, social critique, and personal reflection. Among her recent projects are Home, a documentary exploring the complex realities of immigration, and Lives Worth Living, a short documentary that examines the human capacity for philosophical reflection and the importance of critical inquiry in everyday life.

Sara studied filmmaking and photography at Ryerson University in Toronto and Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. Her training in both visual and intellectual traditions enables her to move fluidly between artistic practice and philosophical discourse, weaving them together in ways that invite audiences to see and think differently. In addition to her media work, Sara is also an academic philosopher, and she is currently producing a podcast in Farsi—her first language—that brings philosophical ideas and conversations to Iranian-speaking audiences worldwide.

As a founding board member of the Iranian Culture House in the Twin Cities, Sara has also been a key advocate for creating platforms that celebrate Iranian art and culture, bridging immigrant and diasporic communities with broader audiences. Her dedication to cultural work reflects her conviction that art and philosophy must not only reflect individual experiences but also strengthen collective identity and resilience.

Sara’s creative practice continues to evolve as she explores new ways to integrate media, philosophy, and community engagement, with the aim of opening spaces for dialogue, critical thought, and cultural exchange.
