Exchange presents a series of exhibits and screenings dedicated to building appreciation for the arts by sharing digital stories across communities in the state of Minnesota. In Progress is a digital arts organization dedicated to paving the way for new voices through the art of digital media. We work with communities throughout the state of Minnesota, supporting artists from within their communities. We are proud to share the vision of five artists and curators from Bois Forte Nation, Leech Lake Nation, Red Lake Nation, Crookston and Saint Paul. Follow Me

Follow Me features the digital photography work of fifteen outstanding emerging artists. They represent two decades of photographic perspective, ranging in age from 8 to 28. The artists represent varied communities, with a handful coming from long distances to present their work. Many have not met each other, but they all share a deep respect for the art of digital media. Each are self-taught. Each have talent and ability that measures well beyond their own expectations. Each have embraced the ever-changing technologies of this new art form and are willing to bend and mold their learning to the opportunities revealed.They have used their cameras to explore the inner workings of their minds and let loose upon the world their expressions of what it means to be a photographer, a storyteller and an artist. purchase / download

Follow Your Dreams

Follow Your Dreams is a powerful photography exhibit representing life in Nett Lake Village, as seen through the eyes of the young people that live there. The works were created by young Anishinaabe artists from Living Histories, an arts and leadership program for young people interested in telling their own stories. purchase / download

Framed

Framed features the digital photography work of three outstanding new artists — Caitlin Connery, Cha Lor and Kao Na “Raynie” Vang. Together they have learned and created. They have taught one another by photographing and critiquing each other’s work. They have used their cameras to explore the inner workings of their minds and let loose upon the world their expressions of what it means to move from childhood to womanhood. purchase / download

Fresh Voices

Fresh Voices features the digital photography work of a small community of Latino artists living in Crookston Minnesota.  The images presented in this catalog reflect the pride, cultural understanding, and at times frustration carried by the young people that have grown up in this rural farm community.  Crookston is located in the northwestern region of Minnesota and is home to several generations of Latino families. purchase / download

Saib Kuv v.2. 2009

Saib Kuv - Watch Me, See The Hmong In Me exhibit is the product of three  years of workshops, critical dialogues, and artmaking within the Twin Cities Hmong community.  The artists represented in this catalog range from age six to twenty-nine. They came together as friends, relatives and artists to create a body of work that would reflect the ongoing journey of the Hmong people, as they migrate from Laos to Minnesota. The works themselves were produced through the use of digital photo cameras, computer manipulation, and in rare cases, mixed media elements. purchase / download

Voices of the North End

Voices of the North End is dedicated to raising the visibility of North End residents and community goers.  Over the past few years In Progress interviewed and photographed individuals and families that consider the neighborhood their home. In Progress worked in partnership with the City of Saint Paul to identify residents willing to share their stories about what they appreciate most about the neighborhood. purchase / download

We Sing Our Songs is a collection of photographic works by emerging artists from Indigenous communities throughout Minnesota The works speak to the rich diversity that exists within every culture. It calls for everyone to watch and appreciate the traditions, values, aspirations and fears of the young artists that produced the contents of this exhibit.  These works were all created through the use of digital cameras and computers and were then printed, framed and presented publicly. download / purchase
