biography

Rue Sommer is an emerging photographer and creative thinker whose passion for visual storytelling began at a young age. At 18 years old, Rue has already developed a strong interest in photography, despite limited access to professional equipment. With a keen eye for detail, Rue began experimenting with composition and lighting through their phone, using everyday moments as an entry point into visual art.

Rue briefly studied photography at Central High School, where they explored foundational techniques like photograms and learned essential photography principles. Although they had to leave the course before advancing to camera use, the experience deepened their desire to pursue the craft more seriously.

For Rue, photography is more than just capturing images—it’s a powerful tool for self-expression, creative exploration, and social change. They are especially drawn to the idea that a single image can tell a complex story, evoke emotion, or raise awareness.

Now seeking to build technical skills and connect with a like-minded creative community, Rue is eager to grow as an artist. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and collaboration, they are committed to developing their voice and vision in the world of photography.
