Caroline Yang is a photojournalist and documentary photographer based in St. Paul, Minnesota, whose work is dedicated to telling authentic, human-centered stories. Driven by a passion for visual storytelling, Caroline creates photographs that reflect the depth, complexity, and emotional truth of the human experience. Her goal is to use photography as a bridge to foster understanding, empathy, and connection within and across communities.
Originally from the East Coast, Caroline earned her Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. Before launching her photography career, she worked for three years as an advertising account executive at Fallon, where she gained experience in communication strategy and creative collaboration. In 2001, she opened her own photography studio and began working full-time as a professional photographer.
Over the years, Caroline has built a national reputation for excellence and integrity in photojournalism. She has produced work for some of the most respected news outlets in the country, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, Huffington Post, and US News and World Report. Her major projects have included covering the Tour de France (2004–2006), documenting hunger in Minnesota for Minnesota Public Radio, exploring the artistry and dedication of The St. Paul Ballet Project, and capturing the energy and emotion of the social justice movement in the Twin Cities. Through each project, Caroline brings a thoughtful, respectful, and deeply human approach to storytelling that invites viewers to see—and care about—the lives of others.
