BIOGRAPHY

Lydia Yang, known artistically as Saint Lydia, is a Detroit-born poet and recording artist currently based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Writing poetry since grade school, Lydia discovered early on that language could serve as both refuge and revelation. Her relationship with words began on the page, but soon expanded into sound.

At fourteen, she began singing and playing guitar in church, where she developed her ear for melody and performance. Those early experiences shaped her vocal confidence and emotional expression. Over time, her musical interests evolved, and she found a deep connection to Hip-Hop and R&B—genres that allowed her to blend poetic storytelling with rhythm and vulnerability. Through these influences, Lydia began crafting a sound rooted in honesty, introspection, and lived experience.

The release of her song, “Hollow Tips,” reflects her belief that music can function as therapy. She writes with the hope that a single verse might resonate deeply with someone who needs it. Her work often explores themes of healing, resilience, and emotional truth, delivered with a balance of softness and strength.

At In Progress, Lydia is focused on refining her technical and artistic skills. She aims to learn professional mixing and mastering techniques in order to elevate the quality of her recordings. She is equally committed to strengthening her overall craft while building meaningful creative relationships. Through collaboration, mentorship, and continued discipline, Lydia is working toward a future where her artistry is both polished and impactful.
