Shirley Young is mother and grandmother. She serves on the Bug O Nay Ge Shig School Board, and has worked and sustained her family since she was a young woman. She lives in Bena Minnesota on the Leech Lake Reservation.
Shirley is my grandmother and a respected elder that has dedicated herself to telling stories, and protecting others through her activism. She shared with me her memories and important advice that will guide me into my adulthood.
