BIOGRAPHY

From early childhood, I was a creative kid. That has always been my identity. After I finished art school in Detroit, I moved to Grand Marais, where I finally uncovered my artistic voice. Yes, after art school.

I write extensively about my creative philosophy and process on my blog. I go fishing in my stream of consciousness and am often surprised by what I reel in. My inspiration comes from things I see around me as well as latent memories that come bubbling up from a well of memory and perception.

I’m primarily known as an acrylic painter, though I was a photography major in art school, and work in many mediums including digital art, drawing, cartooning, video and pottery.

I’ve mentored teens for over 30 years through multiple arts organizations on the north shore of Lake Superior.
