THE GENERAL (1926) is a classic silent comedy directed by and starring Buster Keaton. Set during the American Civil War, it follows Johnnie Gray, a devoted train engineer who must rescue both his beloved locomotive, “The General,” and his kidnapped sweetheart from Union spies. Famed for its thrilling stunts, precise timing, and deadpan humor, The General is celebrated as one of cinema’s greatest achievements in physical comedy and action filmmaking.
