Living Histories

digital storytelling in ojibwe communities & schools

Living Histories supports youth from tribal communities as  they weave together history and culture through the arts of digital media and writing.  It is a program that builds leadership skills for individuals living within a community.

Living Histories was founded in 1991 as a multi component media arts program with the Bug O Nay Ge Shig School. The pilot initiative grew multiple school and community programs throughout tribal communities in Minnesota.

This past school year, In Progress proudly continued its work with students from the Bug O Nay Ge Shig School with programming that included photography and video storytelling components led by middle school students from the Niigaane Bizindamoo-makak Program - an Ojibwe language and digital storytelling program being co-developed by In Progress.
