Digital Learning in the Virtual Realm

Online Programming Resources

  • digital tutorials

Online learning packages that are age appropriate and targeted to new and developing photographers, filmmakers and musicians. We are not creating new materials here, but instead our artists have used their professional skills to review and select the appropriate learning tools for our artists.

  • Online mentorships

Mentorship activities that had begun in our NEXUS and DIGITAL JOURNEYS and LABEL programs will continue through FaceTime, email, and phone.  There will be no in-person connections but a great deal can be accomplished for those that can adapt.

  • Podcasting

We all have stories about how we came to be artists, and how we came to connect to In Progress. We have identified 4 of our artists that will begin collecting and sharing stories about what it means to be an In Progress artist.  This will be a grand and beautiful statement of who were are and were and will be.

  • Online performance opportunities

Some of our In Progress teaching artists are already testing out new ways to engage and connect audiences through live-performance opportunities.  Look out for Saturday improv sessions that will have a kid friendly session in the mornings and a late night session that is better suited to our hard-core rappers.  It will be AWESOME!  It will be diverse!  It will bring joy and good energy to us all.

  • Online Exhibits and Screenings

We are still figuring this all out.  Our EXCHANGE TOUR Program - may have to move to online exhibiting for the season, if quarantine continues. This is hurtful as we know how powerful it has been for our artists to visit with different communities in the region.  But where there is loss - there is also opportunity - so we will let you know next steps with these exhibits and talks by mid April.  We will also be doing a few exhibits with a call for entries - related to our changing world.  We will be planning and curating physical exhibits for our summer/fall season and more.

  • Programming Reflection

We have an amazing collection of photographic and video works from which In Progress is built.  Each week we will tell the history of a community partnership and share the highlights of some of the stories and art that developed from it.  Reflection and sharing are another way of connecting our communities during this time of isolation.  It will help deepen our appreciation for our history as a community of artists.

  • Online Sharing

We need you, as part of our In Progress family to share your creativity, your stories of isolation, your thoughts and ideas for how we stay strong and bond across communities and through these challenging time.  Consider offering up to our FB groups and pages your ideas for staying connected - lets be artists and storytellers and family.  We are already seeing some of our strongest allies, feeling the stress and burden of being responsible for others.  We need to help each other, laugh and cry and sing together through all of this.
